Lighting can be functional as well as beautiful.
Lighting
When planning a room design, the correct lighting is an essential element. Factors such as the size of the space, visual tasks and activities, and desired atmosphere, are just a few key points to consider. Before shopping for your lighting fixtures, ask yourself a couple of questions:
- Atmosphere - Is the space to be business-like, efficient, restful, cozy?
- Purpose - Is the space going to be used for working, dining, reading, watching television? Will the space combine several purposes?
- Selecting the right lighting fixtures can also depend on the amount of natural daylight the space receives, the furniture layout and even the color scheme. For example: a room that was finished with a dark wall color may need more task lighting (table top lamp) for things such as reading. A space that is to be used for dining should have proper over-head lighting. A dimmer switch is nice for easily creating a variance in mood.
