The Basics

There's nothing more frustrating than choosing new furniture, having it delivered and finding that it won't fit in the room, or up the stairs. You don't want drapes that are too short, or to run out of wallpaper before the project is finished. Accurate measurements are a crucial first step in any decorating project.

Once you have all the necessary measurements, plan your space on paper, or on our website, using the Room Planner. Depending on the function of the room, select a focal point. It may be the television, a fireplace or a picture window. You can also create a focal point with an interesting grouping or piece of art. Your space can then be arranged around the focal point that you have chosen. Keep the traffic pattern of the room in mind, and the rest should fall into place.
