  Lighting

When planning a room design, the correct lighting is an essential element. Factors such as the size of the space, visual tasks and activities, and desired atmosphere, are just a few key points to consider. Before shopping for your lighting fixtures, ask yourself a couple of questions:

Atmosphere - Is the space to be business-like, efficient, restful, cozy?

Purpose - Is the space going to be used for working, dining, reading, watching television? Will the space combine several purposes?

Selecting the right lighting fixtures can also depend on the amount of natural daylight the space receives, the furniture layout and even the color scheme. For example: a room that was finished with a dark wall color may need more task lighting (table top lamp) for things such as reading. A space that is to be used for dining should have proper over-head lighting. A dimmer switch is nice for easily creating a variance in mood.

Lighting can be functional as well as beautiful.
